From time to time some of our clients run into problems and come to us for support. We've found that, for the most part, one of these programs can solve their problem or help them achieve better results, faster.
With all the programs from ZD Net or PC Magazine. From time to time they change their web site and the links might not work. Go to their home page and do a search.

ACDSee  http://acdsystems.com/
What we consider the most useful image management/viewing program for PC's. Double click on a picture file opens the picture up full screen. Double clicking on the picture thumbnails the whole folder. From the thumbnail view, images can be dragged and dropped into other programs, like Photoshop. Our most used program. The Classic version is the one I use.
Acrobat Reader  http://www.adobe.com
Free reader of pdf files. The format almost every instruction manual is available in when downloaded or supplied on the program manufacturers CD.
AtomTime  http://www.atomtime.com/
Use it to check your computer's clock and adjust it to match Greenwich mean time or local time.
AZZ CardFile  http://www2.omnitel.net/zdramys/azzcardfile
The idea of AZZ Cardfile is simple paper cardfile or rolodex: pile of empty cards. No any fields. You have empty "paper" sheet when you start new card. Very intuitive.
CookiePal  http://www.kburra.com/
Small shareware program that enables control of cookies. Cookies are information that websites leave on your computer when browsing. They are able to identify you on return visits. Important to take from web site you purchase or download from.

FinePrint  http://www.fineprint.com/
Prints multiple pages on a single piece of paper or can print as a booklet.
Google  http://www.google.com
The number one, most accurate, search engine.
IconLock  ZDNet

Automate typing and other repetitive tasks. I use it for dropping in user name and passwords into their respective boxes.
MusicMatch  http://www.musicmatch.com/

Netscape  http://home.netscape.com/computing/download/
A better place to download all Netscape versions  http://sillydog.org/narchive/
The number two browser (used to be number one until Microsoft gave away Internet Explorer to try to put Netscape out of business). More intuitive and easier to use than Internet Explorer.
NewsRover  http://www.newsrover.com
News group reading program. Contains a built in MP3 search engine.
Norton AntiVirus  http://www.symantec.com/
Buy it. Use it. Update the definitions weekly. What more can I say. I have mine set to update the virus definitions without asking. And to automatically delete or quarantine infected attachments that come in my e-mail. Practice safe computing. Don't open any attachments, even from people you know.
Opera  http://opera.com
Third most popular browser. Fast and streamlined. Loads pages and images faster then the other browsers. Good alternative to Internet Explorer and Netscape.
Pixie  http://www.nattyware.com/
Great little program that gives you the HTML or RGB color value of anything under the mouse pointer.
PhotoRescue  http://bermangraphics.com/coolpix/recover.htm
Great program for rescuing images from a trashed memory card. If you can see the thumbnails, paying the $29 for the full program lets you save the full size images.
PowerMarks  http://www.kaylon.com/power.html
The bookmark management program I've been searching for. Works with Internet Explorer, Netscape and Opera. My bookmark folder now has 6,000 entries and I can find anything within seconds.
